2010 Imagination Power Art Contest winner awarded custom Electric Circuits KitBooks

The Johnson City Power Board presented the winner of its Imagination Power Art Contest with a custom set of Electric Circuits KitBooks on November 2. Mountain View Elementary School, with 386 entries, was awarded the hands-on science kits that teach electricity. Student artwork from six different schools made it into the 2010 calendar. This 2nd annual calendar art contest gives Washington County, TN elementary students an opportunity to express their artistic abilities while engaging in a dialogue on renewable energy sources and sustainable lifestyles.Mountain View Elementary School wins KitBooks

The customized KitBooks contain an additional chapter on the electric power industry including career opportunities in this exciting field. Robert White, Chief Public Relations Officer for the JCPB commenting on the win-win of presenting an award that teaches electricity and is made in Johnson City said, "When we saw the opportunity to encourage our local schools to become more engaged in discussions on energy efficiency and green energy while supporting local entrepreneurship, we simply couldn't resist."

The calendar is available for free at the JCPB headquarters at 2600 Boones Creek Rd. in Johnson City and may be viewed and printed online. Because of its success, the JCPB plans to repeat the contest again next year with another set of KitBooks up for grabs.

The Johnson City Power Board serves over 75,000 customers within Washington, Sullivan, Carter and Greene counties in Northeast TN. The JCPB is a not-for-profit, public power provider and is the tenth largest of the TVA’s 158 electricity distributors. The JCPB also offers a wide variety of energy services and programs to its residential and commercial customers.
